What if the greatest luxury was slowing down?

There are rooms we linger in without quite knowing why.
We sit down for a few minutes, only to realise an hour has passed. A morning coffee becomes a quiet ritual. A book stays open a little longer. A conversation unfolds naturally.
It isn't by chance.
The most calming interiors are rarely accidental. More often than not, they are carefully designed to make room for something increasingly precious: time.

During summer, our relationship with home begins to shift.
We stop simply living in our homes. We start truly inhabiting them.
The days feel longer.Meals stretch into the evening. The light enters differently.
We notice the window that perfectly frames the garden, the armchair we never usually sit in, or the quiet corner of the house we instinctively return to.
Summer has a way of revealing things.
It shows us the spaces where we naturally feel at ease... and those we simply pass through.
As an interior architect, I find these observations invaluable.
Because a successful interior isn't measured by aesthetics alone.
It's measured by how much time you genuinely want to spend there.
Some rooms naturally invite you to slow down.
Not because they are larger. Not because they are more luxurious.
But because every element feels exactly where it belongs.
Natural light evolves gently throughout the day.Materials bring warmth and softness.Movement through the space feels effortless.Nothing competes for your attention.Nothing is trying too hard.
And that is precisely why the space feels so peaceful.
On the other hand, a home can be beautifully decorated and still leave you with a constant sense of restlessness.
It isn't about style.
It's about balance.
I like to believe that the most beautiful interiors offer us something that has become increasingly rare: the permission to slow down.
Not only during the holidays.
But every single day of the year.
Because perhaps true luxury isn't having more.
Perhaps true luxury is simply feeling completely at home.
Perhaps the finest interiors aren't the ones that capture our attention. Perhaps they are simply the ones that make us want to stay a little longer...
Through these monthly Interior Viewpoint, I'll be sharing an interior architect's perspective on the way we inhabit our homes, the decisions that create lasting transformation, and the often invisible details that make all the difference.
Because a thoughtfully designed home does more than look beautiful.
It supports, reveals and evolves alongside the people who live in it.
